Warning: E.R.A. is BACK at the Nevada Legislature!

 

The Nevada Legislature begins on February 2, 2009.  The newest threat to Life and Family is Bill Draft Request 794.  This is a renewal of the ratification of the “so called” Equal Right Amendment (ERA) to the U.S. Constitution.  The ERA never passed in Nevada, and in fact, in 1978 was defeated by the people on the ballot by 68%.  However, the feminist pro-aborts never give up.  They are introducing ERA in the 15 states that never ratified it, including Nevada.  Although, there was a 7-year time limit for ratification of ERA the feminists don’t care, they want to pass ERA even if it’s crooked.

 

ERA will insure that there can be no recognition in law that men and women are different. That means:

 

1)      Overturning of our Protection of Marriage Amendment and DOMA, the federal Defense of Marriage Act. This is because they use gender specific language such as “man” and “woman”.

2)      Federally, it will nullify the homemaker’s Social Security benefit based on a husband’s earnings.  Although most women are working now, this will deny Social Security benefits to our mothers and grandmothers further impoverishing them. 

3)      It will grant a constitutional right to abortion on demand for any reason at any time and nullify any protective legislation, such as, parental consent.
